EU Parliament & Us
Eurogroup for Animals is actively engaged with the European Parliament and many of our activities are directed at this institution and its work programme.
Intergroup on Animal Welfare and Conservation
As the leading animal welfare organisation in the European Union Eurogroup has provided the secretariat for the Intergroup on Animal Welfare and Conservation since its inauguration. The Intergroup brings together likeminded MEPs from all political groups to debate and learn about animal welfare related issues and to encourage them to act and ensure that all EU legislation respects animals and their welfare.
The Intergroup meetings during each Strasbourg plenary session and more information on its membership and activities can be found on its website.

Presence and visibility
To ensure the voice of the animals is heard we must speak for them and to do this we have a physical presence in the European Parliament on a regular basis providing technical and political advice to MEPs and also monitoring debates and discussions. We also work with MEPS active in the animal welfare field to promote the issues they are defending and to raise the profile of animal welfare in general.
Lobbying
It is our raison d’être to lobby the European Parliament. It is essential that we follow all of its activities that may have an impact on animal welfare and influence its members to ensure that they act responsibly and do not cause unnecessary suffering or distress for animals as a result of their actions.
You too can be part of this process and you will have campaigns where we are currently working and where you can join in here
You can also find some helpful hints and tips here if you want to join us in building a Europe that really cares for animals.
