Animal welfare on the agenda at EU-US High Level Regulatory Cooperation Forum
Posted on 10/04/2013
Eurogroup is pleased that the Transatlantic Animal Welfare Council (TAWC), for which we provide the secretariat, will be represented at the EU-US High Level Regulation Cooperation Forum that takes place in Washington DC on 10-11 April 2013.
This meeting aims to provide interested persons – in particular those who submitted comments to the EU and US call for input on regulatory issues for possible future trade agreement – with an opportunity to present their proposals to promote greater transatlantic regulatory compatibility.
The Transatlantic Animal Welfare Council (TAWC) will be represented by its Vice-Chair, Gabrielle Shaw (Director of External Affairs, Research and Learning (EARL) -World Society for the Protection of Animals).
This is a major achievement for animal welfare organisations to be invited to such an international meeting and thanks to this Forum, we will have the opportunity to raise several animal welfare issues that exist in the EU and in USA. This is particularly important as both partners are preparing to negotiate the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP).
