An international seminar was held in Warsaw on March 28-29 on the pan European AWARE project (Animal Welfare in Enlarged Europe), a project funded by the European Commission which aims to promote integration and increase the impact of European research on farm animal welfare throughout the enlarged Europe.
The first day was dedicated to communicating advances in farm animals welfare science and education. It also covered a roadshow promoting exchange and sharing of knowledge between animal welfare scientists, NGOs, national officials, international farmers’ associations and other stakeholders. It was followed by a workshop on identifying and raising core welfare awareness. The workshop focused on the situation and prospects for raising farm animals welfare and promoting its implementation in central and south eastern Europe and on a review of the current and future roles of the main stakeholders in enhancing Farm Animal Welfare in the new Member States and candidate and associated countries.
The seminar was also meant to establish Regional Advisory Committees (RAC) and Eurogroup is pleased to announce that Krzysztof Jędrzejewski, our political officer in Poland was elected as an NGO representative to the RAC of Central and Eastern Europe in acknowledgment of Eurogroup’s reputation in the field of animal welfare and its acknowledged place as a respected partner by all stakeholders involved.
