Intergroup President Named Animal Friend of the Year

Eurogroup for Animals welcomes the award of "Animal Friend of the Year" made today by its member organisation Dyrenes Beskyttelse to Dan Jørgensen MEP. As the president of the intergroup for the welfare of animals Dan Jørgensen has used his position to draw attention to animal welfare failings in the EU and he has been a leading figure in the fight for reducing the transport time for live animals to slaughter.

The Danish MEP is also the vice-chair of the environment, public health and food safety committee and has raised a number of animal welfare issues throughout his mandate pushing the European Union to raise its standards and be a leader in the field. We hope he will continue to work to improve animal welfare and positively affect the lives of millions of animals across the EU.
