Online tool helps citizens choose animal welfare friendly EU election candidates

As part of its #vote4animals campaign Eurogroup for Animals has today launched a brand new tool designed to help European citizens choose who they vote for in the upcoming elections. The tool also allows candidates standing for election to add a profile and show their commitment to animal welfare.
The simple tool allows candidates upload a photo and to complete a short profile showing their animal welfare credentials. Citizens can then enter the tool and see thee candidates in their country and their commitment to act on animal welfare issues. The tool is designed to raise awareness of the key demands related to animal welfare that the next European Parliament should address and allow citizens to question candidates and identify their preferred choice.
“Our election campaign has already seen over 200 candidates signing our animal welfare pledge and we are now giving Europe’s citizens the chance to find out who has supported us and who hasn’t and to use that information to help them decide who to vote for,” said Reineke Hameleers, Director at Eurogroup for Animals.
“We also urge all candidates across the EU to visit our MEP selector tool and complete a profile so that citizens can be informed in their choice and candidates can show their respect for animals and their commitment to improve their welfare,” she concluded.
The MEP selector tool is hosted on www.voteforanimals.eu which also provides information on our campaign including our animal welfare manifesto, pledge and information about the European Elections.
