Selgros acts towards better pig welfare in Poland

Selgros Cash & Carry, one of Poland’s largest retailers, has begun actions to promote pigs’ welfare.

In a reply-letter addressed to Eurogroup’s consultant based in Poland, Selgros informed us that it has written to all of its pork suppliers, asking them to confirm that they respect the requirements of Council Directive 2008/120/EC on the protection of pigs as well as the European Declaration on alternatives to surgical castration of pigs.

Eurogroup welcomes this step forward and urges other food retailers across Europe to demonstrate real welfare outcome to the animals.
