A timely resource which critically evaluates the use of animals in science and explores innovative non-animal approaches to replace their use is to launch with a special one-day conference in London on 8th March.

Sponsored by Animal Defenders International (ADI), the event will feature talks from a number of the 50 worldwide experts – among them scientists, academics, veterinarians, and experts in law and policy making – who have contributed to the peer-reviewed book Animal Experimentation: Working Towards a Paradigm Change co-edited by ADI’s Senior Science Researcher Dr Kimberley Jayne, and Dr Kathrin Herrmann. To close, a panel discussion at the event will explore the practical steps that can be taken to accelerate a move away from animal use.

ADI President Jan Creamer said: “Having conducted extensive studies of animal research and concluded their results are misleading, due to species differences, Animal Defenders International is delighted to support this timely resource which seeks to inform and encourage debate about the benefits of human relevant science.”
