At its recent Annual Meeting Eurogroup for Animals members unanimously voted in favour of a resolution supporting the EU ban on seal products which entered into force on 20 November 2009 (Regulation (EC) 1007/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on Trade in Seal products).

Eurogroup is delighted with the news that the Dutch Minister for Agriculture unveiled today a positive list of exotic and non-exotic mammals which may be kept by private individuals. The list will be effective as of January 2014.

On 25 June, the Agriculture and Fisheries Council of the European Union will meet in Luxembourg with negotiators from the European Parliament to seek a final political agreement on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Eurogroup for Animals, together with the European Consumer Organisation and Friend of the Earth Europe have today submitted a joint-letter to the Irish Presidency of the Council of Europe and the EU27 ambassadors in view of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 14 June that will approve the European Commission’s mandate to negotiate the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the United States.

Today, the European Commission’s DG TRADE presented its Commission services’ Annex on Vietnam to the Position Paper on the Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment of the trade agreement between the EU and ASEAN.
